This listing is for 3 ORIGINAL COPIES of the Mercantile Agency Reference Book covering the state of New Jersey from 1889 to 1936.  The Mercantile Agency Reference Book was a reference publication for banks and businesses showing the credit-worthiness and general wealth of businesses and business people.  It was a private-use publication (not available to the public), only a limited number were published and they were to be destroyed when the next edition was produced. 

The information is arranged alphabetically by town and includes the name of the establishment or business owner, the type of business,  the estimated wealth of the business and its general credit rating.  The information is useful for historical and genealogical research in the state.  Each edition includes towns large and small throughout the entire state and a map of the state.

Each edition was pulled from a larger publication which included a number of Title pages / Key information, etc, and sections dedicated to a specific state.  The original title pages are NOT included, but a clear copy of each page will be provided along with the original state sections for NJ.

Condition:
The pictures show the 5 editions chronologically from 1889 to 1936
R. G. Dun & Co., 1889, ~50 pages.  11 1/2" x 14".  Pages are disbound.  Fair condition, pages are becoming brittle.  Pages have some tears along edges
R. G. Dun & Co., 1918, ~75 pages.  11 3/4" x 16".  Pages are bound together.  Excellent condition for its age, may be some minor tears along page edges.
R. G. Dun & Co., 1936, ~75 pages.  11 3/4" x 16".  Pages are bound together.  Significant browning along edges.  Pages are becoming brittle.  Some tears along edges and foxing.
