The primary use of the dream catcher is to watch over sleep, to block bad dreams.
The belief is that dreams, messages from spirits, circulate around us and that the dream catcher, near the head, can filter them. Often people put it near the window, so that the first rays of the sun will burn bad dreams.
They are made with materials from mother earth: wood, feathers, animal tendons. It is not a simple activity of creative art but a real path to the sacred.
Its origin is rooted in many First Nations legends, particularly among the Ojibwe, Abenaki, Huron and Mi'kmaq, who refer to the web and the spider.
