2 oz Elemetal Mint Siren High Relief Silver Rounds are the second products released in the Privateer Series. The designs featured on this particular product combine the privateer history of the Caribbean with the tales of sirens from antiquity. Tales of sirens on the high seas date back as far as ancient Greek mythology. In the famous Odyssey by Homer, the alluring and melodious songs of the Sirens were so irresistibly sweet that sailors couldn’t help but sail toward the noise. In the end, their boats crashed upon the rocks which the sirens were perched. The result was often a gruesome death.
On the reverse side of the 2 oz Elemetal Mint Siren High Relief Silver Round is the image of a beautiful siren upon a rock in the foreground, with a hapless ship full of sailors upon the high seas turning toward her beautiful sounds. The rolling waves and the ominous clouds in the background hint at the impending doom facing the sailors.
The obverse side of the round uses the common design on all Privateer Series rounds. In the center is a human skull, which serves as the focal point of a boat’s helm that is wrapped in rope. Around the design are the engravings “No Prey, No Pay,” and the weight, metal content, and purity of the round.
