One of the greatest newspaper action adventure newspaper strips of all times was STEVE CANYON, as created by MILTON CANIFF (who formerly had written and created TERRY AND THE PIRATES).  Steve Canyon is a World War II veteran with the Army Air Force Air Transport Command; and, occasionally in civilian life, operates his own worldwide air transport company, Horizons Unlimited, while also serving in the U. S. Air Force Reserve.  Steve's adventures take him around the world, leading him into two-fisted, hard boiled adventures with an intriguing host of friends and enemies.

Steve's adventures (from February 9 to May 18, 1949) lead him to the small treacherous mountain country of DAMMA (very similar to Tibet), which is threatened by Communist Chinese invaders.  Joining Steve are REED KIMBERLY, DOGIE HOGAN, COPPER CALHOON, and PRINCESS SNOW FLOWER, and finally ending in India.
