KABONGO by Richard St. Barbe Baker

Engravings by Yvonne Skargon

A.S. Barnes & Co., New York, First Edition, 1955

Condition: Near Fine in Very Good- dust jacket

Here is a warm, personal story depicting the social background, the culture, the laws and customs, the work, play and worship of the Kikuyu and particularly of their chief, who, after the Europeans settle in Kenya, is a bewildered man, remembering his happy youth and weeping now for his people's trials.

An internally fine copy, with just minor cover corner and spine end wear. The jacket has an edge tear at the top, along with an old tape "ghost"; a small chip at the spine bottom and slight corner wear; darkening along the jacket edges and spine and a shallow crease on the front flap.   A scarce title in the First Edition.
