Product description: Stokes establishes at the outset the necessity of understanding the work of the Holy Spirit within the context of the Trinity. He declares that "the greatest and most precious treasure of the church is the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ." Chapter by chapter he asserts the Wesleyan view that it is impossible to separate the mission of the Holy Spirit from Jesus' own mission as Lord and Redeemer. Perhaps the most important comment to be made about this book is that from the first word to the last, Stokes holds unswervingly to Wesley's insistence on an inner holiness that leads to outer holiness.
