Description
Offered here is this amazing salvaged 1920's Davies & McDonald 5" Decorative Tile. I am unsure of its exact age, however, D & M Company was only in production from 1928 through 1939. This tile is made of terracotta, and has a painted design known as Moorish Decoration. The tile is a 5" tile and is .5" thick, however, the grout still attached to one side adds another .25" to that side, and a small breakage area on one side makes the measurement 4.5". There is a small paint smudge in that area as well. It is an amazing salvaged piece from The Frederick Estate in Altadena California. This tile is in good condition, however, it does have a lot of the mortar still attached to the back. The glaze on the front of the tile is a bit worn in a few places, chipped in a few areas along the edge, and the colors are slightly faded, but, for a tile that is almost 100 years old, it is incredible. Each of these tiles were hand painted, and therefore the design has very slight variances. It is a gorgeous salvaged tile from D & M Company.
