THE PEARL & SWEET THURSDAY by John Steinbeck              Bantam Books, First Paperback Printings, 1947 & 1956              Condition: Very Good- & Good                                                                                                                                                        THE PEARL was a short novel, so popular that it was quickly  turned into a movie.  This 1st pb editon has an 8-page section of stills from the  film & the  stars are pictured on the back cover.  Some wear to edges, corners and spine ends, light cover/ spine creasing and a slight spine lean, but secure binding, unmarked, though moderately toned, pages & lamination that is barely starting to peel.  SWEET THURSDAY, a follow-up to Steinbeck's CANNERY ROW, was turned into a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical comedy, Pipe Dream.  Moderate spine wear, reading creases, a bit more light exterior wear (including a light green "X" on back cover), some spine lean, and uneven pages (suggesting regluing of spine),  thus some tenderness at gutter of pp. 86-87, otherwise secure binding.  Also some writing on cover backs.
