The shade shelters the coffee trees from direct sun and creates a cooler environment in which the fruit can mature more slowly. That slower ripening of the coffee cherry protects the aromas that later develop during roasting and brewing. These shade-grown coffees—hailing from origins respected for this approach—often deliver on flavours that’ll also remind you of the forest. A complex split-roast blend of Arabicas from Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and India bring exotic woody notes, and aromas of peppery spices that dance through these coffees once roasted and brewed.
