The English introduction says"This exhibition will present the gorgeous paintings by the Kano School that decorate the walls and sliding doors of the castle,outstanding items that belonged to the Tokugawa family,and other historical exhibits,in order to create a greater understanding of the history of Nijo Castle.

In particular,it will feature 30of the more than 3000 paintings that decorate the walls and sliding doors of the castle,all of them designated Important Cultural properties,and this will be the first time that so many have been shown together in Tokyo at one time.It is possible to  discern the individual brushstrokes that were made by Kano Tan-yu and the other members of the Kano School,and we hope that people will be able to appreciate the power and beauty of these paintngs that have born witness to four hundred years of history"

This exhibition showcases some 100 works chosen from the over 3000 screen and wall paintings in the collection of Kyoto's Nijo Castle, by master practitioners of the Kano school and other artists connected with the Tokugawa family.
