Description

This is a lovely collector's plate from the Poetic Visions of Japan collection, a series of porcelain collector's plates by Master Artist Yoshiharu Katoh.

This one is the EIGHTH (and final)  in the series and is entitled:
"The Crystal Spring".
Inspired by an ancient Japanese haiku entitled The Crystal Spring"  by the Poet Soin:

In my scooping hands
The leaves of the oak-tree move
In the crystal spring.

Standing lanquidly, with her parasol, by the garden pond, she lets mulberry leaves fall from her fingers and float to the pool. Her meditative attitude represents the Japanese spirit which continuously aspires to achieve a harmony between man and nature.

Released under the design and quality control of the Japan Pottery Design Centre, 'The Crystal Spring' is crafted at Ketsuzan-Kiln in a limited firing. This one dates to 1990.
