For your consideration is a stunning Chinese large and heavy bowl/centerpiece on a wooden base. This magnificent yellow-ground blue and white bowl depicts eight (8) symbols associated with Daoism, which are called "Trigrams", a pair of Imperial dragons chasing flames around the inside edge, another dragon on the inside bottom, and flying cranes along other decorations on the outside. A six-character Imperial Ming Wanli period mark is inscribed on the bottom of the bowl, as shown on the second, third and last photos. Trigrams are made up of three (3) combinations of broken and unbroken parallel lines. In China the eight (8) trigrams around this bowl are interpreted to make sense of the world's past and future. Unbroken trigrams lines represent the masculine (Yang) element and the broken lines the feminine (Yin) element. This rare bowl measures 6 1/4" high without the wooden base by 14 3/4" wide, and weights about 10 pounds. It comes from the estate of a South Florida's antique collector, and it is in great condition; free of chips, cracks or repairs. IT LOOKS BETTER THAN THE POSTED PICTURES.
