Description
This is a charming vintage decoupage wooden box purse from the 1960's.
Marked on the bottom: "A Sherry Purse Estes Park Colorado #1535"
Stained wood, with decoupaged scenes by well known Dutch artist Anton Pieck, an illustrator known for his fairytale-like nostalgic paintings.
On this piece, we see a charming victorian street scene, with shops, horse and carriage, children, cats, dogs, peddlers, a harbor, and even a dog cart!
Lucite tortoiseshell handle.
Antiqued hardware.
Push lock closure.
Lined with crushed velvet in avocado green, with gold soutache trim.
Mirror inside lid. Mirror has some tarnish.
Wooden feet on bottom.
Brass corners.
Measures 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 6 1/4" high. From a smoke-free home.
Also marked on bottom: "Made for Barbara with Love, Bob"
In very good vintage condition. Push lock works perfectly.
Slight patina on hardware. A few very minor bumps on edges/corners. The mirror has tarnish. Otherwise very clean and nice and obviously treasured and well cared-for.
