This is an antique, mid century, cream colored ceramic pottery floral base, which can also be described as a porcelain vase, centerpiece base, or ceramic planter. It is marked on the bottom, "952/0 Japan". My mother used this as a base for silk, dried, and live flower arrangements for more than 50 years. I believe this dates to the post "occupied Japan" period, from the later 1950s through 1960s. The oblong pottery vase is in good condition, free from breaks or cracks although there are some scratched areas along the upper rim. (See photos. This doesn't show with flowers in place). There is also a piece of flower putty in the inside bottom that was used to steady oasis. The flower arrangement base measures 6" long, 3" tall, and 3.5" deep.
