"Woodard, Clarke and Company owned a drugstore in Portland that sold medicine and other manufactured goods. The Lewis and Clark Exposition was hosted by the city of Portland from June 1 to October 15, 1905. Covering over 400 acres, the fair showcased exhibits from various nations and states, and it promoted the economic potential of the Pacific Northwest region.
"The retail operation had been established in 1880 (1865 on the dominoes box) and formally incorporated in 1900 as Woodard, Clarke & Company, from a partnership between Louis Clarke and Charles H. Woodard, who retired from the business in 1904"
