Whoever heard of a private eye trying to clear a COP of being crooked, especially when the whole force "knew" he was guilty?

Book is in acceptable condition. Heavily worn and beat up. Cover Creasing, Cover Fraying, Piece of tape on spine, different piece of tape in top right hand corner. Spine has some issues (see photo #3). Book has had is cover repaired, and is fragile. Scrape marks. Staining on interior and exterior. Writing on the inside front cover.  A solid reading copy.
