The Big Apple Bout!
Jack Carban was a young California middle weight in the late 1930s.
His nickname was The 4th-of-July Kid, and his punches were fire- works.
He wanted only one thing: to fight for the crown at Madison Square Garden in the Big Apple.
Along his rough trail to the top, Carban fell in love with a society girl, who happened to be the girlfriend of one of his backers.
That spelled trouble.
So did the mobsters and crooked promoters who peppered Carban's life with big bucks and big threats.
The 4th-of-July Kid fought his way up from California, to Newark, then finally to the Big Apple.
But his backers had pulled out, he was plagued with injuries, and he soon found him- self the underdog in a life-and-death bout!
