Harry Belafonte Sings of the Caribbean is a collection of songs by the wonderful singer Harry Belafonte. Liner notes state: "This collection contains material based on traditional tunes sung from Trinidad to Puerto Rico. It is an album full of joy...the happiness of work, play, love, and a good-natured leveling of the 'high and mighty'...It is important we understand that Belafonte is not in this recording attempting to be a Calypsonian or a member of the 'brigade.' He is, as in all his folk offerings, the interpreter...making intelligible to those of us who live in America the beauty of an unfamiliar form of music." Island in the Sun was specially written for the motion picture of the same name, and Lead Man Holler is one of the principal songs of that picture.
