This is a hand made bowl done in the style of Bischoff Glass Company’s artists. Although I think it is a Bischoff piece, I have not been able to find documentation to prove that it is. Perhaps it was made in Mexico? The bowl is 5 5/8 inches wide at the bottom, and about 9 5/8 inches wide at the top. There is a slight curve in the sides, below the fluted rim, which is like similar bowls by Bischoff. There are medium to large, even, controlled bubbles going from the outer 1/2 inch of the bottom all the way to within an inch of the top. The ruffles (flutes) are very even and nicely done. This beautiful bowl weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces before packing for shipping.

There is a rough pontil on the bottom of the bowl, as is typical of Bischoff products. However, this pontil scar is rougher than any others I have seen on Bischoff glass, which is why I’m a little uncertain of the maker. The bottom of the bowl had been flat, but the process involving the pontil made it indented, and it is unevenly indented, so that the pontil area is raised on the inside of the bowl, and slightly higher on one side of the pontil scar. But this is all part of making hand made glass. Each piece is slightly different, and nothing is exactly perfect. It is art!
