M8/M20 Event Chicago Ford Plant Reporters & Photographers US Army 1944 Photo

For your consideration we offer this vintage piece of Military History.

We purchased a large collection of items, photographs, documents, manuals, correspondence, restricted reports and blueprints form a Chicago Area Estate. The previous owner was stationed in Detroit Michigan during World War II and worked in Ordnance Operation as an engineer.Aside from design, he was largely responsible for testing equipment at the General Motors Proving Grounds. Some of these vehicles/equipment made it into the theater of war while others failed to meet the standards set forth by the US Army. His family tells me he has kept this documents for over 70 years, and they were the source of great pride in the service to his country.

SHIPPING NOTICE: July 2024

Great News! For our US buyers we are now providing limited tracking on First Class Mail  envelopes. We continue to work towards keeping shipping cost low for small items such as slides, photos and negatives. Orders shipped inside the US will be sent via USPS Informed Visibility and each label is barcoded to provide relatively accurate information as to shipment and delivery of your item. We've experimented with this system over the past month and have found it quite reliable. If you subscribe to USPS Informed Delivery you'll automatically receive email notification of your incoming order.

  • Understand that we ship you order the next day.
  • Should you live in areas affected by mail slow downs/delays we ask you to dismiss normal delivery times and accept that your item may be delayed within the USPS system.
  • Should you find the above unacceptable we ask that you consider the Ground option at checkout, which offers tracking and insurance.
  • Significant dollar orders are always upgraded with tracking, you need to do nothing.

Shipping Domestic- When selecting "STANDARD SHIPPING" at checkout your item is shipped at a reduced cost and without the benefit of USPS tracking. It will however be shipped using USPS Informed Visibility program which serves as a limited tracking for shippers. If you would prefer not to take this risk you can upgrade to "USPS Ground Advantage" and full tracking will be provided. We have added the "STANDARD SHIPPING" option in order to address high shipping cost for lower valued items.

Shipping International- When selecting "STANDARD SHIPPING" at checkout your item is shipped at a reduced cost and without the benefit of tracking. If you would prefer not to take this risk you can upgrade to "USPS FIRST CLASS MAIL" and tracking will be provided. We have added the "STANDARD SHIPPING" option in order to address high shipping cost for lower valued items. Low cost shipping options have all but disappeared, what used to cost $4-5 is now in excess of $7-12.

Combined Shipping- We are happy to combine shipping in order to save you money. Please use the ADD TO CART feature when purchasing more then one item, the feature will combine your order and charge you the proper shipping amount. When we are able to we'll combine your order and refund any excess shipping to you.

Our Pictures- We do not use stock photos, the pictures you see are of the actual item. Please examine the pictures, as they are part of the description. We do our best to represent our items as accurately as possible. However there may be
specifics that you may need addressed so please do not hesitate to contact us before you make your purchase, we'll be pleased to assist you.

Image Date- We are often asked how we were able to determine the date of a slide, photograph or negative, to which there is more then one answer. When using a specific year that evidence comes from one or more of several sources. In the case of slides those after 1959 are usually date stamped when processed, we also use slide tray liner notes, memos written on the slide, evidence presented by other slides/photos/negatives within the same grouping, logs or journals kept by the original owner and visual evidence presented in the image itself. When the precise year is unknown but the period is clear will use general terms such as 1940s, 1950s, 1960s...etc.
