Brand new factory sealed dvd is Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being produced.
Linda (Jacki Kerin, who looks sorta like Natasha Kinski) inherits her recently deceased mother's spooky rest home for the elderly in Monteclare, which seems to be haunted. While she's busy striking up a romance with local guy Barney, one of the aged residents drowns in the bathtub, and soon lots of inexplicable events are setting her on edge.
When she finds her mother's diary, it describes "the evil in this house" and an unnerving parrallel between events of decades past and the macabre goings-on in her own life. Lots of characters are killed, and in one of the dream sequences, a (very real looking) dead old man shows up floating outside a window!
The plot carries a few nifty surprises, so pay attention. While the opening 2/3 of this film constitute more of a tense psychological thriller, slow and moody (parts resemble the 'Shining') rather than a flat-out horror film, the payoff is worth the wait. It includes an eyeball stabbing, a head blown off, and other surprsises as all the details culminate in an explosive, stylishly-shot riot of violence and mayhem.
This little-known scary movie was filmed in New Zealand and New South Wales. It has an intense synthesizer score by Klaus Schulze of 'Tangerine Dream' and excellent cinamatography. Transfered from original Australian vault materials and packed with lots of special features.
