- Crystals are priced by quality, color and size.
- Purple amethyst is more highly prized and will cost more for a smaller lesser quality crystal. Lavender is the most common color and where you will find the best quality/value for price

- Many of the crystals have special color properties: Many have phantoms, not just the ones we’ve indicated. Some have “floating” purple tips. The placement of darker purple against purple or white crystals appears to change as the crystal is turned. Many are a mixture of citrine and amethyst. The ones called “Golden Healers” or “Sunshine” have a rainbow effect on crystal faces.

These crystals were first discovered in 1986 in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range near Pretoria, South Africa. It was called "Spirit Quartz" by the South African tribal medicine men because they were used for healing rituals. Cactus quartz is formed by a quartz or amethyst crystal being encrusted by a second generation of smaller crystals grown on its faces. It occurs as quartz, citrine and amethyst, and comes in a wide range of colors, including purple amethyst, violet amethyst, smoky, milky clear and golden citrine.
