THE PINK FLOYD LONDON 66-67 A FILM BY PETER WHITEHEAD VHS NTSC
SYD BARRETT...NICK MASON...ROGER WATERS...RICK WRIGHT
THIS FILM PRESENTS PINK FLOYD FILMED AT THEIR RECORDING SESSION ON THE 11TH AND 12TH OF JANUARY 1967, AT SOUND TECHNIQUES LONDON. THEY ARE SEEN RECORDING WHAT HAS BECOME REGARDED AS THE DEFINITIVE VERSION OF "INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE" AND THE PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN NICK'S BOOGIE FOR PETER WHITEHEAD'S FILMS ON SWINGING LONDON. TWO FURTHER RECORDINGS MADE AT THIS SESSION ARNOLD LAYNE AND CANDY AND A CURRANT BUN SECURED THE BANK A RECORDING CONTRACT WITH EMI'S HARVEST LABEL AND WORLWIDE FAME. THEY ARE ALSO SEEN PLAYING AT THE LEGENDARY UNDERGROUND CLUB-UFO, BIRTHPLACE OF PSYCHEDELIC IMAGERY AND A NEW STYLE OF MUSIC IMPROVISATION.
THIS FILM SHOWS THE 14 HOUR TECHNICOLOUR DREAM EXTRAVAGANZA AT ALEXANDRA PALACE IN APRIL. ON THE SAME BILL THAT NIGHT AS PINK FLOYD WAS YOKO ONO. JOHN LENNON WAS FILMED BY PETER AT THIS HAPPENING AND CLEARLY DID NOT KNOW THEN THAT HE AND YOKO WERE DESTINED TO MEET. WE KNOW THAT THE MAN SEEN WITH LENNON IS JOHN DUNBAR, AT WHOSE GALLERY THEY DID MEET (AT ONE OF YOKO'S HAPPENINGS) SO THIS VIDEO IS UNDOUBTEDLY OF GREAT SIGNIFICANCE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.
