- Lindley's Blazing Star seeds. An annual that produces spectacular 3" bright yellow star shaped blooms with yellow centers and are sweetly scented. They open in late afternoon to reveal a mind-boggling tuft of 100 or more extra-long stamens and close with the morning sun. Fern or poppy-like leaves on multi-branching stems up to 3' tall, flowers appear in late Spring to early Summer and continue through summer, especially if deadheaded. Heat & drought tolerant once established, it thrives in average to poor well-drained soil. Native to dry, desert like conditions, they tolerate heat, drought, wind & low fertility. Grows well in gardens or containers. Grows 1 to 3 feet tall and 8-12 inches wide. A favorite of bees and other pollinating insects. Blazing Star had several medicinal uses among Native Americans. The roots were ground and used as a pain reliever for headache, arthritis and earaches. The leaves were used as a treatment for upset stomach and an antiseptic wash. Easily grown from seed. Pretty much a carefree plant after established.500+seeds per order. Thank You!.
