19th Cent Indo Persian Devils Head Kulah Khud. Beautifully handmade from one forged piece of steel, hand hammered and decorated with elaborate koftgari in gold over its surface, showing elaborate patterns of design. Devil face consists in traditional design: two well attached horns, a moustache fixed into two early handmade screws and a bearded retractable nose guard.Well preserved chain mail helped to deflect a blow to the back of the head and neck. A dramatic central spike is placed at the crest of the helmet. Inside the helmet, a thick red cloth cushion showing visible wear for a consistent period of time in the past. Typical Qajar style. Rare, used by Persian and Mughal military commanders.
