Description

Framed portrait of Captain Joseph Veillo,a company commander ( from Hancock County,Mississippi) in the 18th Regiment Mississippi Militia during the War of 1812. On the verso of the portrait (after the original slag board was removed) were fragments of his ( coatee) uniform. During the restoration these fragments were removed and placed on the back of the frame in acid-free sleeves. I have included photographs of the before and after restoration which in part included replacing the original dimple glass and reinfocing the frame. No expense was spared and everything was done professionally. The gorgeous gold gilted court frame measures 25 x 30 and is 3 inches in width. (Truly an American treasure)
