Warning: Art Historians and Art Collectors alike may not like this piece’s history.

Up for sale is a rare, hard to find Gallerie Maeght lithographic poster. These were rarely pressed and are signed in stone when pressed. It features the gallery’s stamp in black above the signature and the gold embossing in the upper right hand corner.

This piece was found in a garage where it was stored for many years with no glass in front to protect it. The poster is in extremely poor condition and is sold as is to reflect this. The price reflects the condition. This work in other auctions have sold as high as $1300 (2017) and as low as £750 (2016). We are aware that we will set a new low; given the condition, that is expected. In the photos we show it in frame but we have taken it out of the frame and we will ship it rolled in a tube. It was printed onto H24 Paper and then “glued/pressed/we are not entirely sure what happened” to a cardboard backing.

The work itself is an incredible piece of modernist design and is indicative of Saul Steinberg’s curious approach to art. Combining elements of sketch, abstraction, surrealism, and cubism into a wonderful menagerie of color, texture, and pattern.

This item is sold as-is and due to the unique nature of the work, there are no returns on this work. Please contact us before purchase through and we can resolve any issues through if any exist after point of purchase.
