This listing is for Manuel Komroff: Coronet Hardcover 1930.
Hardcover, 677 pages
Publisher: Grosset & Dunlap; Edition (1930)
Coronet is an excellent historical novel full of human drama, foibles and excentricities beginning in 1600 and ending around 1919. Among the best I have read due to Manuel Komroff's fine portrayal of characters in thought and excentricity. I felt they all could be real. It is possible one of the most memorable scenes was an inspiration for a modern Star Wars Movies as it was strikingly unique and marvelous (I was relating the scene to another and SW got mentioned... Star Wars V), similar in fascination to The Land rush scene in Oklahoma 1890's as described first in Edna Ferber's Cimmeron that gets recrafted years after in movies such as Far and Away.
The story follows a couple family lines and their possession of the small crown (the Coronet) and a silver whip. Famous artists pop up in the story, livley philosophical debates and the changing of politics up to our era of industrailism and capitolism.
