Here’s what happens:
You have a card freely chosen by your spectators. The selection is
genuinely free; they can even shuffle the deck before they select the
card. The spectator uses a marker to write down the identity of the card
on a piece of paper. The paper is burned, and suddenly the magician
reacts as though the spectator is burning not just the paper but also
the magician. When the magician’s hand is examined, the image of the
selected card’s identity is shown as angry blisters bubbling up on their
fingertips.
