This compendium is meant for readers interested in history, not for scientists. It's just a brief account and many important events, names or dates had to be left out. Still we hope that it gives a clear picture of the past and present of Jews in Hungary.It makes clear that for more than a millennium, their fate was, with a very few exceptions, full of tribulations, anti-Jewish campaigns, severe discriminations. All this had radically changed after WWII. Jews enjoy equal rights with any other citizen of the country and they can be a Jew if they want to. It's up to us Jews and to us only, if we want to live on as Jews in ages to come. Let's trust we will
