NOTES:

The real world SS Normandie was a large and fast ocean liner built in France, for the French Line Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.   It began service in 1935.   During World War II, the Normandie was seized by US authorities at New York and renamed it USS Lafayette. In 1942, the liner caught fire, capsized and came to rest at the bottom of the Hudson River at Pier 88.. Although salvaged, restoration was deemed too costly and was scrapped in October 1946.
