This elegant pair of wall lights was produced in India in the 1950s. The design consists of a holder and back plate in solid teak wood, with a beautiful, warm grain. A nice detail is the arm and finial in brass. The matte white shades are tear shaped and made of opaline glass. The decorative appeal of the shades is further emphasized by the zigzag edges of the top part. The shades distribute a pleasant and soft light when the lamps are illuminated.
The pair is in very good condition. Currently corded and with 120V European plugs, the fixtures can also be mounted onto a wall outlet directly.
Indian Modern designers working in the same era/style include Hans Bergstrom, Hans Agne Jakobsson, Paavo Tynell and Josef Frank.
