The rose is a summer green shrub and is considered the "queen of flowers". It has given its name to the entire plant genus. The damask rose comes from the Persian region and is said to have been introduced from there by the crusaders. The typical form of the Rosa damascena is like a climbing rose with slightly nodding pink flowers. The species that is now cultivated as an oil rose in Turkey, Morocco, Bulgaria, India, Persia or Russia is called Rosa damascena trigintipetala.
