Glow Beads - Glow beads need light exposure to activate and complete darkness to see the glow brightly. Some will take longer than others to activate after placed in darkness as well as will last differently.  They should glow for about 5  minutes without further light but re-activate with more light.  Some colors have a deeper glow than others, they glow white-yellow. They are not battery operated, they do not contain a neon light bulb, they are a simple plastic product with glow properties. The colors names are "neon/hot" colors. If any strand should separate, just twist the ends together to complete the link.
