Description
This is a vintage 1970s two-piece applique Southwestern influenced dress - skirt and blouse - from Salaminder Kansas City and designer Sally Von Werlhof.
The blouse is size 4, the skirt is size 6. They run MUCH SMALLER than modern sizes, though. Please check measurements. Top bust: 36. Skirt waist: 24. I think the button could be moved to add length - to a 26" waist.
Cotton.
Colors are turquoise (Von Werlhoff's "neutral" favorite!) purples, and greens.
THE TOP has a round neck and button down front.
Yoke has ruffle detail, and fan-shaped appliques.
Long sleeves with single button cuffs.
Rounded hem.
THE SKIRT has a waistband with button and trouser hook, with overlap / no zipper.
Pleats all around.
Side seam pocket.
Applique border hem.
Side slits.
Detached long multicolor sash to wrap and tie.
Both pieces in wonderful pristine condition.
Salaminder was founded by designer Sally Von Werlhof, who became famous for her funky yet meticulously crafted clothes with a southwestern flare. Her design trademark was layered applique in a riot of color. Her clothes were worn by celebrities, including Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Henry Fonda, Glenn Campbell, Paul McCartney, Burt Reynolds, Tanya Tucker and Barbara Mandrell.
She went on to found Ariat, an upscale western wear manufacturer.
In excellent very gently pre-owned condition, with no obvious signs of a previous life. Immaculately clean and ready to wear.
From a smoke free home.
