Synopsis:
This fictional series is based on historical events and dramatizes the story of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as shaping the political and private events of her reign.
Entering a new decade, the royal family may be facing its biggest challenge to date - public questioning of their role in the 1990s in Britain.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, she looks back on the reign of nine prime ministers, the emergence of mass television, and the decline of the British Empire. However, new challenges are coming soon. The disintegration of the Soviet Union and the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong marked a huge change in the international order, which was both an obstacle and an opportunity. At the same time, the domestic situation is in turmoil.
Prince Charles (played by Dominic Wester) puts pressure on his mother and decides to divorce Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki), which triggers a constitutional crisis in the monarchy. The couple gradually became estranged and rumors spread. With increasingly close media attention, Diana decided to take the initiative in her speech and break family rules - she published a book, which weakened public support for Charles and exposed the fact of internal discord within the Windsor royal family.
With the appearance of Mohammad Fayez (played by Salim Dao), the tension escalated further. Driven by the desire for supreme power, he uses his self-made wealth and power to try to win a place in the royal family for himself and his son Dodi (played by Khalid Abdullah).
