Verbena (Verbena Bonariensis) - Commonly called Purpletop Vervain, this is one of the best flowering perennials for attracting butterflies, and in particular the Tiger Swallowtail.

Grown as an annual north of its hardiness range, V. bonariensis is a staple of the cottage garden, cutting garden, and meadow. It tolerates poor soils beautifully, asking only for good drainage and plenty of sunshine. The ideal addition to a wildflower garden! Perennial in zones 7-10.
