Amazing 1879 children's book of poetry. This book is such an amazing find. The cover of the book is gold embossed and beautifully done, and the pages are lined in the gold color. The title page reads: "Carefully selected from the works of the best and most popular writers for children." By Henry Coates, editor of the Fireside Encyclopedia of Poetry. This book is 525 pages and has over 250 poems and 200 black/ white amazing engravings. It includes poems like: Beware of the Wolf, Babes in the Wood, Lady Moon, and the Snowfall. The preface reads that this book was created and collected for children ages 6-14 years old. The engravings are amazing in this book!
This book is in fair condition for its age. It is over 130 years old! The cover is beautiful but soiled and detached from the binding. The preface page, title page, and a few others are missing and a few completely unattached but still there. The pages have the lovely aged paper look, but are not brittle.
This book would be an amazing addition for a collector, a lovely gift, and/ or a thoughtful heirloom gift for a family.
