The Thermal Model 600-9 Flow Meter provides reliable, accurate flow measurement with no obstructions to the actual flow path. The sensor is incorporated into the meter's outer surface, and is completely protected from the adverse process conditions. The Thermal 600-9 can handle liquids, slurries, gases and homogeneous solids through a wide range of flow rate, temperature, pressure, viscosity, abrasiveness, or chemical compositions. It is built onto a spool that matches the actual flow pipe dimensions and construction material. Minimum size is 1/16"(1.59mm) in diameter; there is no maximum size.

The spool is as impervious to fluid as the rest of the line, and is available in flanged, threaded, Swagelok® or other constructions suitable for the system. Systems electronics include the flow analyzer, temperature compensator, and the signal conditioner to provide a linear output directly proportional to mass flow. An optional output provides continuous temperature measurement. Sensors are available in several forms to allow measurement in a wide variety of flow applications

Operating Principle:

The Model 600-9/9500 operates using a constant temperature system that employs two RTD sensors: one for sensing temperature, and one for sensing flow. The flow sensor is heated to a precise temperature above that of the fluid passing by. The fluid conducts heat off the sensor in direct proportion to the mass flow rate. The temperature sensor is used to set the heat on the flow sensor and correct changes in the fluid temperature.

Thermal Instrument's thermal mass flowmeters consist of one piece; a flow element with a bridge controller, signal conditioner with power supply, flow signal, A/D converter, linearizing network, 4-20 MA DC, flow output, operational flow display, and totalizer.
