This is a record of the life and works of Ignatz Moscheles (1794-1870), a Bohemian composer and virtuoso pianist, as well as a chronicle of the musical history of his time. Edited by his wife, the book was originally published in Germany in 1872; this early U.S. edition was adapted to English by A. D. Coleridge. 434 pages, including a listing of his compositions and an index of names. This is a handsome, firmly bound copy, with slightly bent cover corners, tiny tears and a bit of wrinkling on spine ends, a few rough page edges, moderate page toning, pencil writing on a blank page and light pencil markings in the text margins. A scarce early hardback edition of this title.
