The BOBCAT Badge was introduced in 1938 as the entry-level rank for every new Cub, earned prior to all other award or rank  of Tiger Club, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos.

A boy must complete the Bobcat requirements - demonstrating his understanding of Scouting's core values, able to recite the Club Scout Promise, Law of the Pack and motto, among other things. The BobCat badge is to remain upside down until the scout does a good dead. The BobCat Badge Pin is a Parent's pin given to the parents as a symbol of solidarity with their scout's achievements.
