This is an unusual Celestial or Religious Scarf Slide in a silver tone metal. It looks to be Southwestern in design. It could represent the symbols of the world’s religions and harmony and peace between them. It has a heart that could stand for love or peace not hate and war. There are two Native American style symbols pointing to the heart all inside a crescent moon. Below the moon is a large six pointed star, with another star etched in the center of the big star, this could be an abstract of the Star of David. Hanging from the large star are two small crescent moons with a cross in the middle. It is signed on the back with an “S” symbol hallmark. I don't think it is Sterling Silver, it is not marked and I have not had it tested.
This is in very good vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It does have two tiny black dots on the silver to the left of the heart. I have marked them with an arrow in one of the photos. You don't really see them without the magnification. This is a large slide and measures 3 ½ inches from the top of the heart to the bottom of the cross. It is 2 inches wide. The slide opening is 1 ¼ inches wide.
This could be worn in a variety of ways. I have a picture of the slide on a thin fabric belt worn around the neck (not included with slide). I would knot the fabric just below the slide to keep it in place. It could also be worn as a pendant with a little bit of adjusting to the slide. It would need to be pushed in more in the center so the chain could go through the sides.
This is an amazing piece of jewelry that is sure to be a conversation starter. It is an eye-catching one of a kind piece of artisan signed jewelry.
