Chase was one of the best hard-boiled mystery writers. This novel was originally published in hardback in 1950. Nice "dead nude on a beach" cover art by Downes. Slits and small chips at spine ends, some light cover creasing, front section of pages uneven with rest of book (indicating regluing at spine), tiny edge chip by spine bottom on a few pages. Still, not so bad for a 70+-year-old Popular Library.
