In making this piece, the cottage came first, with a sort-of brick-like fabric in turquoise and white, and a matching textured fabric for the roof. It is a tiny cottage, surrounded by flowers and flanked by a tree, and a pink sky whose color is echoed in the curtains. A couple pieces of Angelina® fiber adds just a bit of depth there, not to mention a bit of bling!
One thing I tried here was to mold the shape of the edge more closely around the major objects in the scene.
My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
