Known for half of its one season run as "Mrs. G. Goes to College," The Gertrude Berg Show brought back the long-time star of the early Golden Age sitcom The Goldbergs. Surrounded by an all star cast that included Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Leo Penn, Marion (Happy Days) Ross and Mary Wickes, Berg starred as a recently widowed older woman who decides to enroll in college and live with the students and a visiting professor in a campus boarding house. The comedy sprang from the generational and cultural situations created by her decision. A delightful family comedy.
