15 Chapter serial PLOT: Columbia's 45th serial is almost an exact remake plot-wise of Universal's 47th serial, 1940's "Winners of the West," with only some minor modifications to the character roles. Roar of the Iron Horse had hero Jock Mahoney in his first leading role, playing Jim Grant, a railroad agent, opposing hardfaced German, George Eldred, called The Baron. The infamous Baron is thwarted time and time again as he tries to sabotage the building of the transcontinental railroad with all the means at his disposal; strategically bribing the local Indians into doing his dirty work.
