An old fashioned tradition that began back in the ancient Roman times, when daughters were promised, bought and sold and most times not that happy about going home with their new husband, so she was usually just "dragged" over the threshold, until one smart groom picked her up and carried her... another belief in ancient times, was that demons could enter a new home through the soles of a new bride's feet, so to protect her and their new home, she was carried over the threshold... and Over time it evolved and became the tradition that is practiced today, either just for fun, a symbol of a promise to always keep her safe, or to keep the demons from following them into the home, who knows.
