CROWDS by Gerald Stanley Lee Doubleday, Page & Co., Sixth Printing, 1913 Condition: VG+ to NF in Good+ dust jacket This is a difficult book to categorize.
Basically, I'd say the author is philosophising about the people of our society (in 1913) -- who they are and where they're going. Life Magazine called it "a cupful of common sense with a quart of idealism poured over it." The book was popular -- this sixth printing was published only months after the first. This copy has only very light corner, edge and spine-end wear; there is virtuallly no fading of the cover or spine. The binding is still sound with no hinge or gutter splits to be found. The original owner's name and date of purchase are written on the ffep. I see no other writing or markings, no tears or creases on the mostly white pages. The jacket has some short edge tears and 2 or 3 small chips; again, virtually no fading on the wrap-around illustrated covers or spine. This early dj is very scarce.
