Antique one-sided photogravure print by French artist Henri Cain (1859-1937) titled "At the Louvre." The image depicts a female artist copying the works of a master. Published on heavyweight paper in 1893 by D. Appleton & Co., New York. Stated copyright 1893 by H. Cain. "Photogravure Goupil" denoted beneath the image. Full size measures approximately 12.5 x 16.5. Recommended framing area including image, artist/title, and inner white border (that portion of the border that would normally be visible after framing or matting) measures approximately 9 x 13.5. Condition: Print is in very good condition aside from some age browning of white border some within the recommended framing area. There is also a moisture stain along the bottom left edge of the print well outside the recommended framable area. There are no pin holes or tape marks anywhere on this antique print. Comments: French artist Henri Cain came from an artistic family - his father was a sculptor and his brother Georges a well-known painter. After initial success as a painter himself, Henri concentrated on writing novels and plays, as well as libretti.
