Siopel Cream

Siopel Cream is an antiseptic barrier cream that keeps skin clean and protected from water and other external irritants. It also reduces water loss from the surface of the skin, allowing the skin to retain its moisture and reduce the itchiness of the skin.

Siopel contains two active ingredients:

- Cetrimide: An antiseptic substance which destroys certain types of bacteria that can infect the skin, to help keep it clean. Studies with cetrimide have shown it to be active against a wide range of bacteria including Staph. aureus, the most common cause of infection in wounds and burns
- Dimeticone: A silicone fluid which binds to the skin surface and forms a barrier between the skin and water, or other irritating substances that are soluble in water

Combining these ingredients creates a water repellant barrier cream that moisturises and reduces the risk of infection. This makes it ideal for treating conditions where the skin needs to be protected from water soluble irritants, for example when treating nappy rash in children.

Siopel Cream contains arachis oil (peanut oil) so is not suitable for people with a known peanut allergy.

Directions

Siopel Cream is for external use only. Wash and dry the skin first, then apply the cream sparingly and massage well into the skin.

- For the first 3-4 days: Apply three to five times a day

- Siopel Cream may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine when you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding

Do not use Siopel Cream:

- If you know you are sensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients
- In body cavities or as an enema
- On skin that is acutely inflamed (ie red and angry) or weeping
- Before the skin has been cleansed of any irritants

Take special care with Siopel Cream:

- If mixed with soap or detergents its effectiveness may be reduced.
